Target Dink Drill

Make practice fun...

Jordan Briones continues his Primetime video series with another dink drill. This drill focuses on hitting targets in order to to move your opponent around. The video is called "3 Cone" Dink Pattern Drill | Pickleball

The drill starts as other dink drills do - with a player positioned at the NVZ line on each side of the net. But prior to that, 3 cones are positioned on the side of the feeding partner. The cones are set close to the net within the width of a half-court and dividing the half-court into thirds.  The set up is shown below.

The cones are labeled 1, 2, and 3 from left to right from the drillers perspective. Jordan is pointing to "1" in the above image.

The drill begins with the drilling partner choosing a pattern to hit his dinks, e.g., 1-3 or 1-3-2. Either player hits a dink to start. The drilling partner then hits his dinks in the area behind the cone in the selected order and continues the pattern. For example, using a 1-3 pattern would have the driller hitting behind the left cone, then the right cone, then the left cone, then the right cone, etc. The feeding partner simply dinks back anywhere in the half-court of the driller.
