Pickleball goes Big-Time

I have written a couple of posts about the US Open Championships held last week in Naples, Florida. There were over 800 participants in the tournament, easily making it the largest ever. There was a "Pro" division for the first time and a new format associated with the high level play. Some of the changes were controversial as the sport seems to be reaching a crossroads. But that is a discussion for another day. Today's post isn't controversial. It is fantastic news for fans and players of the game.

Some of the final matches will be televised by CBS Sports on May 20 at 7:00 PM!!! The telecast will feature the Men's Pro Doubles Finals with highlights from the Women's and Mixed Finals. Be sure to tune in and tell your friends who always wanted to know what pickleball was all about to tune in as well. Have a pickleball party, for crying out loud! Then you can explain to them that the game we play isn't quite the same as the one played by the finalists...at least not yet.

The TV guide for DirecTV has never before had the show "Pickleball".
